Eaton wears target at state
G’wood junior favored to win Class 3A crown

Greenwood junior Ryan Eaton knows all eyes will be on him Saturday during the KHSAA Class 3A State Cross Country Championship at the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington.

That’s just the way he likes it.

Eaton enters the race as the runner to beat, a position that has the junior runner feeling anxious.

“It’s kind of exciting to have that target on your back,” Eaton said. “They are looking you and saying, ‘Hey! That is the guy we have to beat.’ That gives you the upper hand, because you know they are kind of taken aback when they are running against you.”
