Kentucky State Meet XC Recap 2021 - Ciara O'Shea Wins Fourth Title

O'Shea Dominates Class 3A ; Conner Boys Split 24 Seconds On Five

Madison Central junior Ciara O'Shea showed the gulf the exists between her and every other runner in Kentucky on Saturday at the state cross country championships at Bourbon Park. 

O'Shea won her fourth consecutive state title in 18:25.4. She began the string as an eighth grader. 

O'Shea, ranked 16th nationally, remains undefeated this fall, including a big win at the Great American XC Festival in North Carolina. 

She finished more than 58 seconds ahead of runner-up Tula Fawbush of Oldham County (19:23.9). 

Assumption won the team title with 103 points, led by Julia Schmitt's fifth-place finish. 

Conner overwhelmed the boys competition with all five scorers crashing the top 11 (5-6-8-10-11) on the way to 40 points. Ryan Hanak, Joseph Impellitteri, Logan Warth, Drew Moore and George Johnson all finished within 24 seconds.

Sami Hattab from St. Xavier won the individual 3A title in 16:32.2.

In Class 2A, Caden Miracle from Bell County turned in the fastest time of the meet with 16:04.6. North Oldham, though, went 2-3 on the way to a team victory with 68 points. 

Sophia Newsome of Boyd County ran 19:17.6 to win the 2A girls race. Second-place finisher Caroline Beiting led Lexington Catholic to the team title with 77 points. 

Claire Curtsinger from Bishop Brossart won the 1A race in 19:39.9. Lexington Christian won with a score of 108. 

Natnael Weldemichael of Beechwood won the 1A race in 16:59.7. St. Henry District put four in the top 16 on the way to a team win (59 points).

Class 2A - North Oldham boys 68 points, Lexington Catholic girls 77 points - RESULTS
