Connor and Ciara O'Shea Own The Day In Kentucky

The Class AAA Kentucky state champions in cross country came from the same household. 

Senior Connor O'Shea and freshman Ciara O'Shea from Madison Central ran to victories on Saturday at New Horse Park in Lexington. 

In the boys race, O'Shea led teammate Brady Masters to a 1-2 finish for Madison Central, breaking the tape in 15:50.6. O'Shea improved from 13th place in the state final in 2018.

Ciara O'Shea ran 18:29.4 and won by 40 seconds. She also won the race last year as an eighth grader.

The boys team race was tight. Trinity over came a 40-second wait between its fourth and fifth runners and edged St. Xavier, 111 to 113 for the team title. 

The Oldham County girls put four in the top 13 and scored 58 points to retain the team title.

Sophomore Addi Dewey of Christian Academy won the AA girls title in 19:13.0. Scott City, led by a pair of eighth graders, won the team championships with 74 points.

The boys from Corbin won the boys title with 134, outlasting Boyd County (143), Webster County (150), Highlands (175) and Lexington Catholic (179).

Ryan Maynard of Taylor County won the AA race in 16:14.2.

Louisville Holy Cross dominated the boys A race, with three runners in the top seven, including winner D.K. Schneiders (16:04.2).

Sophomore Anna Rupp of Lexington Christian Academy ran the second-fastest time of the day to win the A girls race in 18:58.4.

Louisville Collegiate won the team title with 96 points.
